UtilitySecrets.org, a new site from EPI and Center for Media and Democracy

The Energy and Policy Institute and Center for Media and Democracy have teamed up to launch a new web site, UtilitySecrets.org. UtilitySecrets will be a collection of documents, analysis, audio, and video that shines a light on what utility companies are doing and saying outside of the public’s eye.

Much of the electric utility industry has spent heavily to influence elections, lobbied to weaken clean air and water safeguards, invested in coal and gas-fired power plants instead of cleaner options, waged a war against distributed solar energy, and even funded climate change denial.

Some of the site’s initial stories examine utilities’ fight against rooftop solar power, their efforts to rebrand the industry as clean, and their funding of attacks on environmental and public health regulations.
