Shelby Green is a Research Fellow at Essential Information, a non-profit dedicated to providing information to the public on important policy topics and encouraging public participation. She’s working with the Energy and Policy Institute to track investor-owned utilities in the Southeast and their compliance with (or resistance to) state-mandated decarbonization goals. Her expertise is in utility consumer protections, energy affordability, and software development. She lends her expertise to develop public tools that openly track how utilities evade accountability and climate responsibility.

Shelby now lives in Washington, D.C., but previously resided in Tallahassee, FL, where she served as the area’s first Black woman Soil and Water Supervisor and a candidate for City Commission.
