Joy Ramsingh serves as Public Records Counsel at EPI, where she provides legal counsel relating to FOIA litigation. Before joining EPI, Joy spent eight years in private practice litigating public records and public meetings matters in state and federal courts. Joy was responsible for bringing a first-of-its-kind public records lawsuit against a private police foundation, resulting in the public disclosure of environmental impact studies and other records related to the building of Cop City in Atlanta, Georgia, and she successfully represented several national news outlets in obtaining the 911 call recordings relating to former President Trump’s assassination attempt in Butler, Pennsylvania. She previously worked as appellate counsel and an appeals officer at the Pennsylvania Office of Open Records. Joy has been quoted frequently in national media as a public records legal expert. She is licensed in Georgia, Pennsylvania, and Tennessee.
