Research Fellow
Sofia is a research fellow at the Energy and Policy Institute. Before joining EPI, she graduated with honors from the University of California, Berkeley, with dual degrees in legal studies and environmental economics and policy.
While at Berkeley, Sofia interned with the Environmental Defense Fund, the California Public Utilities Commission, and the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission. Her work included research on gas pipeline rates of return, environmental review of infrastructure projects, and renewable energy legislation.
Through a student-led environmental consulting group at Berkeley, she managed several projects with clients including the Union of Concerned Scientists and the National Park Service. She is an alumna of the Berkeley Law Human Rights Center’s Investigations Lab, where she trained in open-source investigation methods. Her work there included contributing to an Amnesty International report on the effects of the 2022 Pakistan floods on vulnerable groups and leading research on data center accountability in Silicon Valley.
She lives in the San Francisco Bay Area.
